Join us for the Season of Nonviolence!

Every year on January 30, the day of Gandhi's assassination, we kick off the Season of Nonviolence. The Season ends sixty-four days later on April 4, commemorating the death of Martin Luther King Jr. The Season of Nonviolence was initially established in 1998 by Arun Gandhi as a way to honour the ideas and the activism of Gandhi and Dr. King. Different organizations around the world have taken up the idea to push for peace and nonviolence; examples include: the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence in Rochester, New York and the International Peace Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

IGINP Canada teams up with the Mahatma Gandhi Canadian Foundation for World Peace in Edmonton, Alberta to support all of us in building our daily practice for nonviolence and peace. Not just for ourselves as individuals, but also as as a community.

Every day during the Season of Nonviolence, we share a quote  selected from the Gandhi Foundation and prompts for reflections and actions. We encourage everyone participating in the Season of Nonviolence to share their thoughts as well as things that they are going to do or have done as related to the daily practice. Please check out our social media accounts to follow along with us.

To facilitate the 64 daily practices, we have designed a Season of Nonviolence journal. You can access the PDF version of the journal on the right.

If you're feeling crafty, you can turn the journal into handmade books like the example below.
